Dörentrup

Stallscheune (Stable barn), Tourist information

Dörentrup is “Animal Village”. Situated in the north of Lippe county, its stunning countryside amidst the Lippe hill-country made it famous for country tourism and holidays. As a special highlight, some farms at Dörentrup took up again breeding traditional farm animals that are in danger of extinction. Further attractive destinations are the more than 700-year-old hamlets Schwelentrup and Humfeld, the villages Bega and Hillentrup with its neo-Gothic church and also Wendlinghausen, home of the impressive Weser Renaissance castle Wendlinghausen. And during a trip with the historic train of the “Landeseisenbahn Lippe”, you will enjoy the nature preservation area “Oberes Begatal” (Upper Bega Valley).
