Weyhe

The community of Weyhe is only 12 kilometres outside Bremen, but still in plain countryside. Some of the most interesting spots in Weyhe are the watermill of Südweyhe at the Hache river embankment, the church of St. Felicianus at Kirchweyhe with its Romanic tower – by the way Weyhe’s oldest building – and Wieltsee a lake close to Dreye.
Weyhe used to house North Germany’s biggest marshalling-yard and thus the community development is influenced by rail. No wonder train lovers will enjoy it here – visit a restored freight train steam engine from 1942 at Kirchweyhe station or enjoy a train ride with the historic train “Pingelheini”.
